Kate Kuaimoku holds a BA in Studio Art from the University of Washington focusing in Printmaking and Fiber Art. Teacher, student, artist, and maker whose artistic practice is rooted in investigating, studying, and how we occupy space and our built environment. As an artist I’ve made work that helps to activate space, to integrate discarded materials, and highlight the beauty of natural form. As a sculptor, ceramicist, printmaker, painter, and performance artist my interdisciplinary background has opened up the field for me to work and learn to use unconventional materials in my works. The ceramic works shown are formed to create a dialogue of my hands to the viewer, allowing them to interact with me without contact. These positions explore engagement and contact within the constraints of social distancing.
