With your consent, we make use of some cookies including those used by Wix, WordPress, Google Analytics, and online payment processors. WEAD does not save credit card information. All forms on our website state whether the entered information is public or private. Private information is retained solely for WEAD’s private business use and will not be transferred to third parties. Media
All images uploaded to the website will be publicly visible. All text entered in to description fields for uploaded images will also be publicly visible. If you choose to use the free Gravatar service for your user image, Gravatar will use an anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash). The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.
If you upload images, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
Cookies include those used by Wix and WordPress for security and session information, Google Analytics (described in more detail below), and online payment processors if you choose to make a donation or pay for a membership through our website. If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. For members, when you log in, WordPress will use several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for up to two weeks, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed. If you edit or publish your member profile or another article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the profile or article you just edited. Wix cookies, described in detail on Wix support, last for up to a year.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a service provided by Google, Inc. which uses cookies to help us analyze how users use our website. The information generated by these cookies (including your truncated IP address) is transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your, and other users’, use of our website, compiling reports for us on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Google only receives your truncated IP address, which allows Google to identify the country from which you are visiting our website, but is not sufficient to identify you, or your computer or mobile device, individually. Google cookies are those beginning “__ut”. If you would like to opt out of Google Analytics, Google offers a free opt-out browser add-on.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this website may include embedded video content (e.g. Youtube videos, Vimeo videos). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. If you choose to make a donation or pay for a membership through our website, some information such as payment status and amount will be shared between the payment processor and our website. WEAD does not save payment information and uses 3rd party payment processors including Paypal and Stripe to handle transactions. WEAD may disclose personally identifiable information about you to third parties in limited circumstances, including: (1) with your consent; or (2) when we have a good faith belief it is required by law, such as pursuant to a subpoena or other judicial or administrative order.
Data storage and retention
You may access or delete information you have submitted to us by sending an email to info@weadartists.org. Current members can edit or delete their information through the website. Website administrators can also see, edit, and delete that information. Deletion requests will be addressed promptly, but WEAD will retain data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. When we no longer need to retain information or when deleting information on request, we endeavor to remove all copies. However, deleted information may continue to persist on backup media.
Information submitted through our web forms and membership system is retained until you choose to delete your account. Email subscription information is retained until you unsubscribe from the mailing list. If you communicate with WEAD via email or our website contact form, we keep records of those communications indefinitely. Financial records of donations and other transactions are retained indefinitely. Donor information is kept indefinitely unless the donor requests that it be removed.
Where your data is sent
Our web hosting is based in the United States. We may share your information with trusted service providers or business partners in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States, in accordance with applicable law. This means that some of your information may be processed in the United States, which may not offer the same level of protection as the privacy laws of your jurisdiction. By providing us with your information, you acknowledge any such transfer, storage or use.
Security
WEAD takes physical, technical, and administrative measures to help protect your information from loss, theft, misuse and unauthorized access. However, we cannot guarantee that these measures will prevent every unauthorized attempt to access, use, or disclose your information since despite our efforts, no Internet transmissions can be completely secure.
Children
Our website is intended for users over the age of 18 and is not directed at children under the age of 16. If we become aware that we have collected personal information (as defined by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) from children under the age of 16, or personal data (as defined by the EU GDPR) from children under the age of 16, we will take reasonable steps to delete it as soon as practicable.

We encourage you to check this page periodically for updates to stay informed on how we collect, use and share your information. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will provide you with notice as required by law.
