BOT I, digital image, Praba Pilar, 2011.

ISSUE 10 of WEAD MAGAZINE (www.weadartists.org/magazine) will feature cis, trans and self-identified women activist artists who create art works utilizing technology to further ecological and/or social justice change – whether through cyber tools, gaming, biotech, synbio, robotics, AI, and other expanded interpretations of technology. This issue will be guest edited by Dr. Praba Pilar, whose art & scholarship is centered on techno-culture.

We seek a half dozen+ geographically and culturally diverse, stimulating, imaginative critical essays on artists personal stories of strategies and experiences in their own work. Work may be successful or not, your personal critique is important. Essays can relate to your whole body of work, or to one recent (within last 5 years) project. Open to public projects and/or studio work; solo and/or collaborative. The work must relate to ecological and/or social justice issues. Final essays are 2500 to 4000 words long, with a minimum of 10 high quality images.

PROPOSALS & TIMELINE & COMPENSATION: Send two paragraphs describing your artwork(s), including a short description of why your method, strategy, or experience is unique and informative to our audience. Include 5 high quality images. Proposals are due December 10, 2018. Final essays are due January 21, 2019.
