Projects and Initiatives

Published WEAD MAGAZINE, ISSUE # 14, "Kinship: The Art of Connection," edited by Connie Tell and Donna Brookman.

Launched "Lands and Symbiotic Futures," a juried show of WEAD member art, exhibited in 3D online. Hosted three evenings of artist presentations in conjunction with the show. The exhibition remains on view through January 31, 2025, and the artist presentations are available for viewing on the WEAD website and YouTube channel. Published on-demand catalog.

Hosted Patricia Miranda as part of the Art + Science online series and Fern Shaffer as part of the Art + Healing series.

Continued the Art + Activism series with three evening presentations featuring Kim Anno, Patsy Craig, and Tanya Zimbardo curating Bonnie Ora Sherk’s work.

Hosted Petra Kuppers, Robin Lasser, and Sharon Siskin as presenters for three evenings of the Art + Education series.

Produced and co-produced in-person events:
"Recycled Glass 'Window Ware'" workshop with Mary White
"Cultural Commentary Project" with Danielle Siembieda at Big Daddy's Community Garden

Held members-only workshop, "Instagram for Artists" with Nicole Slater.

Facilitated two Art Shares for members to share artworks and practices and engage in the mission.
Partnerships

Received $25,400 total in grants from the California Arts Council (second year) and the Brabson Family Foundation.

Worked with intern Shaira Mae Sabando, a design student from California State University, San Bernardino, and on WEAD Magazine #14 and promotional materials.

Partnered with Fort Mason Arts and Living Library on a tour of the Bonnie Ora Sherk exhibition, curated by Tanya Zimbardo.

Participated in the Bioneers Conference, presenting the "Collect Every Drop: Rain Barrel" exhibit and workshop in collaboration with Eco Art Matters students from Laney College, Oakland.

Invited to participate in Northern California Women’s Caucus for Art’s annual Land Art Day.

Increased newsletter subscribers to 1,526 and promoted 94 events and publications featuring individual members in the newsletter.

Attracted 3,716 unique visitors to the WEAD website, which hosts 647 member-artist portfolios and event recordings for ongoing viewing.
