Dispossessed

About 77,000 square miles of tropical rainforest are destroyed annually. What remains is meagre pastureland and desert. Once gone, the forest would take centuries to return. Once individual species are gone, they are gone forever. These blue and yellow macaws are dispossessed of their habitat as it burns below them.

ARTWORK: Paintings in watercolor and oil

Award winning artist and teacher paints to preserve Belizean rain forests in Central America. I received an NEA grant in 1993, for a proposal entitled "The Artist as Environmental Activist". Under auspices of the Programme for Belize, I painted and photographed the rain forest at the La Milpa Research Station and Conservation Area in the northwest quadrant of Belize. Each year I donate a portion of the proceeds from sales of my Rain Forest Collection to Programme for Belize. Additionally, my work, on posters. cards and T-shirts, is sold in Belize to eco tourists to support conservation.
