Toxic Vernacular

Toxic Vernacular

2001
(in collaboration with Steffi Domike and Suzy Meyer)
Installation with stained muslin, objects, laser prints

Toxic Vernacular was a collaborative installation developed for "You Are Here," a web of environmental art exhibitions in conjunction with an environmental policy summit, "Women Assessing the State of the Environment." Composed of muslin cloth dipped in Pittsburgh-area waterways, and found objects and water samples from each of seven sites, the installation made evident our contradictory perceptions of the land, which we simultaneously foul and venerate.
