I recently moved to Mexico where I spent the first 20 years of my life. The bicultural experience has played a large role in influencing my life and artistic concerns accentuating a multicultural overview with an interest in the more experiential and intuitive traditions such as the Maya and MesoAmerican cosmovision, Eastern philosophies and deep ecology. Most ancient civilizations had a sophisticated cosmology in which nature and the cosmos were synergistic. This coming year I will be participating in "The Missing Peace", a portrait of the Dalai Lama, for the Dalai Lama Fdt.
I have been working on a border project with the mothers/women in Juarez, Mexico. It will ultimately be an altar installation and performance. The performance will include the participation of the mothers of Juarez. I am reaching out to all women that would like to participate in the "votive project" (Luz y Solidaridad) by lighting a votive with the intent to bring light and healing to the daughters and mothers, and sending me or emailing me a signed photo of the lit votive. The votive images will be a part of the altar. The designated eaddress: luzysoli@yahoo.com if you would like more information.
