Three Tree Tweet

Three Tree Tweet (detail)

Huntington. Vermont
June 2001

Black walnut dye, honey, birdseed,
pinecones on trees

"Three Tree Tweet", Spirit of Place: Site Ecology Exhibit, Huntington, Vermont Using trees as kiosks I created pictographs of birds and animals using birdseed, honey, handmade black walnut stain and pinecones. The seed is eaten or scattered by birds and animals. Insects consume the honey. Over time even the walnut stained images disappear, living on only in memory. To me this is a metaphor for the fluctuations of memory including the memory of our connection with the environment.
