as a master artist for some @40
yrs, i have come to believe that one highly endangered group of individuals--the
young people who think they have to choose between caretaking the environment
or ignoring the environment as they make their artistic decisons. they need
to know about this group and its outreach for sustainable, integrated art
and life---life and environment. environment is life and life is art.....

Hello once again,
It is so inspiring to learn about the work of other artists interested in
environmental work and collaboration. My medium is the earth and my workshop
entire commumnities that join me in the process of creating a site specific
Earth Quilt. This project emerged in 1986 when the DOE proposed to create
a Nuclear Repository on 112 thousand acres in three counties in the Blue
Ridge Mountains. Since that first project which incorporated Music, Dance
and poetry and celebration of the earth into the process, I have installed
over 60 gardens and thousands of people have particpated. This spring I
will create a garden in NY on Long Island onthe campus of Empire State College,
in honor of 35 people that passed on Sept 11th.
Thanks for this great Website. Hope to get more information and an image
to you for your registery shorty.

I'm a poet and performance artist/teacher
workng with collaborative improvisation in relation to landscape--with the
larger intention of establishing community ritual in relation to public
land. Another facet is shifting perception and language (ala David Abram,
"The Spell of the Sensuous")to broaden the tunnel of literacy most of us
live in--experimenting with that, I made a series of outdoor sculptural
books which are read by handling natural objects. My current project, The
Garden of Radical Presence, is a series of workshop/performances in the
Santa Cruz Mountains which explore a continuum from cellular awareness to
human interdependency with nature. (Next one, Jan. 19-21, 2001.)I'm always
looking for collaborators, so if any of this interests you, holler. rosenajia@hotmail.com

with the hope of saying something new or different from what we've simply
tossed in the trash. I am thrilled to have discovered this site.

Am delighted to come across your site. We have an archive on women artists
from the mid-eighties, mostly. We also publish a titled "make, the magazine
of women's art". Although we are based in London, perhaps there is scope
for some kind of exchange? Until we hear from you, Good luck with your work!
