WEAD's Purpose

NOTE:
Since WEAD is produced by volunteers working out of their own
studios and offices, hard copy and web submissions must be delivered
to different locations/recipients as noted below.
HARD
COPY VERSION:
Listing
in The Directory (hard copy version) is FREE.
You can download a form or send
in an SASE.
We
purposely designed the Directory to fill a unique slot. Its format
is more concise and functional than an art exhibition catalog and
more informational than the traditional directory format. We know
of no other organizations producing such a publication. There are
other directories of general artists, but these are most often commercial
ventures of questionable social value.
Each
artist has one-half page to create their own statement and image
presenting their work as they see best. In this way more information
is provided than a standard directory format, while imparting the "gestalt"
of each artist's art work and work process — something that would
not happen if the copy were written by other professionals.

If
you would like to list in the Hard Copy
We
accept new listings and corrections on an on-going basis. Eligible
women are encouraged to submit an entry. We
do not do layout or other production work. Your entry will appear
exactly as you prepare it. Bi-lingual entries welcome.For
2004 and beyond we now have a newly designed and consistent
format.

Includes layout guidelines for the hard copy directory
and a directory order form. You must have Adobe Acroabt
Reader installed on your computer.
- 2006
entry template (.rtf) This template has been
updated to conform to the newly designed 2004 format. Also
download the 2004 entry and order form listed above. You
must have a recent version of Microsoft Word. (Note: ".rtf" = "rich
text format" and may be compatible with older
versions of Word.

WEB
VERSION:
The
WEAD Website includes names of all artists who appear in the hard
copy version of the directory. You MUST have a hard copy
entry submitted in order to be included on the website.
Website
listings require payment of:
-
(Option A: color or bw) $30.00 for a color image or black and
white image
- (Option
B) $20.00 for no image
This
is not a yearly charge, but payment is requested for each
new listing or for updated listings.
Minor
updates to website listings (ie, change of address, phone, new email,
etc.) are included in the initial charge. Links to artists' own websites
and email addresses are only available to artists with full website
listings.

Website
Option A (with image) : $30.00 (Such a Deal!)
COLOR image
Per Listing, Info "As-is" in the printed directory, with
(1) 2" Color image (scanned from your slides)
*IMPORTANT: For COLOR Option A
only, send in four (4) readable, high quality JPEG scanned digital
images (preferred
via email) or color slides, fully labelled
with artist's or collaborators' name(s), title, medium, date, and
numbered in order of preference and a slide inventory page with
the same info (and a description of the work if desired.)
When sending slides, send only dupes -- slides submitted are
non-rerturnable.
WEAD will keep your slides in our archives to include in slide
lectures promoting Directory artists at conferences and symposia.
We will do our best to include your first slide choice.
Remember
to email a
digital copy of your listing, paticularly if it is a new or
updated listing.
BLACK & WHITE
image
Per Listing, Info "As-is" in the printed directory, with
(1) 2" Black and White photo or drawing, scanned from submission
for printed copy.

- Website
Option B: No Image: $20.00
WEAD reserves the right to editorial
discretion in selecting the most readable and most translatable
image for publishing on the internet.
- Future**
Website Updates:
the payment required is the same as above (except for
minor changes or corrections, ie addresses, phone numbers). Your
previous image will stay on the site with a link to the page showing
the enlarged image. **Future pricing subject to change.

We reserve the right to judiciously reconstruct submissions. Aesthetics,
budget and paper savings are priorities, overriding the importance
of strict alphabetical order and democratic criteria of half-page
