The ecoartist's intent is to communicate, inspire caring and respect, stimulate dialogue and contribute to social transformation. Learn about the trailblazers who have laid the foundation for ecoart as a widespread practice and the online resources that foster worldwide connection among ecoartists. You'll also get to see examples of artist activities bringing creative solutions to ecological issues, hear an art educator's experience, and find out how you can get involved in this innovative practice.
Presenters
Sam Bower
Bower is Co-founder and Executive Director of greenmuseum.org, an online museum of environmental art, launched in 2001. He has a background as an artist, curator, designer and organizer in the arts, cultural exchange and environmental non-profit sectors in the United States and in Ecuador.
Melding art, ecology and grassroots activism, Californian Steinman engages multi-group collaborations to create street-front ecoart installations that revitalize blighted natural and cultural landscapes. Select awards: National Park Service Art & Community Landscapes residency; San Francisco Potrero Nuevo Fund Prize.
Bay Area sculptor and educator Thompson creates sculpture and interactive and educational site specific installations that address individual and communal survival issues and involve collaboration
