The idea of "natural selection" is almost anachronistic. Whole species are passing from Planet Earth at a speed accelerated by humans, not by the slow grind of geological time as defined by Darwin. The causes of this rapacious and essentially irremediable travesty are exploitation of resources, degradation and contamination of essential life environments, introductions of alien and invasive species, overwhelming of habitats, and flagrant disregard of the crucial inter-relatedness of species diversity. My work aims to use visual WONDER to precipitate action-oriented consciousness. We are the ones who can and must insist on safeguarding the animals and plants with whom we co-exist.
