CONFERENCES and SYMPOSIA

October 18-20, 2002

BIONEERS CONFERENCE

Marin Civic Center
San Rafael, California
Info: http://www.bioneers.org

Since 1990, the Bioneers Conference has assembled a singular cross-cultural and global gathering of 'biological pioneers' using nature to heal nature. The unique Bioneers culture focuses on solutions informed by the biological truth of interconnectedness that is essential to mending livings systems and our relationship as human beings with the natural world. The inspiring stories of the successes of the Bioneers illustrate the diversity of ways an individual can make a difference, and point to a future environment of hope.

The Bioneers Conference serves as a focal point for numerous diverse constituencies across a broad span of projects and communities. The gathering provides many opportunities for cross-pollinating information and networks, while encouraging collaboration. The Conference equips people with models, resources, tools and a community to support greater participation. It also nourished this important community with inspiration, and generates innumerable tangible outcomes.

She is joined by biologist Douglas Kepler, a pioneer in constructed wetlands, renowned for his success in treating acid mine drainage from the coal industry.

Peninsula Europe: From Eco-Art to the Healing of Continents

Eco-art pioneers and professors at UC San Diego Newton Harrison and Helen Mayer Harrison highlight the co- evolution of cultural diversity and biodiversity.
