AM SEEKING: |
Opportunities to work as a visiting artist/professor at educational,
cultural, or museum institutions for a period of time in order to
create site-specific installations as a means of incorporating the
environmental education nature of my work. |
My interest is in the creation
of site-specific installations within which the viewer can enter, pass
through or sit while being made aware of the passage of time through the
germination, growth and decay of plants sprouting within such materials
as glass, plastic, concrete, fabric and paper. By incorporating the actual
experience of viewing the process of change and transformation as witnessed
in the life cycle of flora, I wish to subtly plant within the viewer a
desire to be more aware of the relationship between nature and the human-made
environment. I also wish to communicate the delicate characteristics of
memory and how time can both erode and enhance our interpretations of
experience.
Exhibition experience includes
work throughout the U.S. as well as France, Russia and Costa Rica. Have
installed permanent outdoor installations in Illinois and New York. Been
the recipient of grants from the New York Foundation for the Arts and
the New York Council on the Arts.
