ARTWORK: CLOTHING & COSTUMES WOVEN OF RECYCLED MATERIALS

Clothing and costumes woven of recycled materials for performance and public viewing where art is unexpected & for fun.

A few previous projects:
1994-6 Costumes in Search of Character. A commission from the San Francisco Art Commission, Art in Transit: to gather trash from Market Street merchants, make costumes and present six street performances.

1993 - Artist in Residence. Norcal Waste Transfer Site
Create wearables; including formal wear worn to San Francisco's Black and White Ball.

1983 - Grant - Cultural Council of Santa Clara County. Develop art costume for a post-punk gothic futurist musical.

Publication most useful: Ornament Magazine, 1993; "Estelle Akamine, A Remarkable Scavenger."
